Forgive Yourself
Meditation requires you to be non-judgmental toward yourself whenever you lose your focus. By telling yourself it is okay for the millionth time your mind wanders, you effectively forgive yourself for not being perfect. You recognize your own humanity in your flays and failures. I always go into practicing breath focus with the purest intentions of staying focused for as long as I can. Understanding my own intent makes forgiving myself easy. I do think this practice can expand into regular dealings in life.
Making a mistake at work. Upsetting a friend/loved one unintentionally. Dropping a cup 😂.
That being said, definitely is easier said then done. Considering how our world is an incredibly harsh judge.
Being judged and criticized for every mistake we've made, starting when we are young in school and being told to never "get out of line", all ends up instigating a thinking that being perfect is crucial for survival. If you fail, you will get left behind and will make it difficult to move forward. Growing older though and graduating school leading to entering the work force, its pretty safe to say none of us have this (life) all figured out.
This post is intended to remind ourselves to always strive to be kind to everyone, including, most of all, to yourself. There are millions of voices in this world criticizing and judging us for our mistakes but how we see and forgive ourselves for not being perfect, hopefully will bring forth greater peace.
